PRINTTASTIC & FANTASTIC

JANA PAVASOVIC, DESIGNER OF THE COMPLETIST

Where do you call home?

London

Have you always designed Stationery?

No, I was (still am sometimes) a fashion designer and product developer for many years.

Why is your business called The Completist

I actually started The Completist as a fashion illustration blog. I am a bit obsessed with collecting images (my house is full of books and magazines) and a completist is someone who obsessively collects things to do with a particular genre, so I figured it was a good name. Of course it’s turned into something else completely now, but I am still an avid image collector!

What was the last great book you read?

I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara - I’m a bit of a true crime junkie.

What would we find on your playlist in your studio/office?

A lot of podcasts actually - true crime and politics. But when I do need to focus and not have talking in the background, it’s a lot of Cut Copy, Childish Gambino, Kaytranada, Tops and Blood Orange.

If you weren’t creating stationery what would we find you doing?

Designing clothes for sure! Or some kind of trend forecasting/creative direction.

Dream holiday destination?

I really want to go on a yoga retreat called Kaliyoga in Bali. I have been told it’s absolutely incredible. Berlin, Stockholm and Oslo are also high up on the list.

If an out of towner was visiting you where would you take them?

Probably to a whole lot of galleries. We’re really spoiled here in London! Tate Modern would be the top of the list. I’d also take then for buns at my favourite restaurant, Mr Bao.

What are you currently coveting?

Books. Honestly, I have a huge list of really nice inspirational books I want to buy. I just need the space!

Describe your style in 3 words.

Bold, colourful, printtastic.

Favourite Instagram feeds?

@carlottawinder, @cheapoldhouses @presentandcorrect @documenting_fashion @kimcoolmon and my friend @emmajanepalin, just to name a few!

Do you collect anything and if so what?

Yes! Books, magazines, and magazine tears. I have so many drawers and boxes full of things I’ve ripped out of magazines. I have no space but somehow I always manage to squeeze in more.

Summer or winter?

Winter for sure. I like to wear all of my clothes at once.

Favourite Restaurant/Cafe?
Mr Bao, Polpo and Padella in London, Freemans in New York and Casoni in Sydney.
What takes your breath away?
A big cheese board! Seriously in love with cheese.
Favourite Australian product....
It’s not very exciting, but Paw Paw ointment. It’s just the best.
Why shop local?
Shop local because it means you’re supporting small businesses to create unique and interesting things, plus you’re supporting real people directly rather than big corporations.
Do you have a signature scent?
Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle
Favourite Artist? Favourite Cocktail? Favourite Flower?
Can’t just name one artist! I love Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse, Bill Henson and Alexandria Coe. Favourite cocktail is an Aperol Spritz or anything involving peach and whiskey. Favourite flower is peony.
Use one word to describe Jim & Jane. Bloody lovely! (Sorry that’s 2 words!)
